Why this course?
This course is ideal for anyone looking for a short taster of jewellery making, as well as those wishing to refresh and practise previously learned skills. No prior experience is required. Working initially in copper before progressing to silver, you will learn the fundamental techniques of silversmithing. These include piercing, filing, silver soldering, forming, texturing, finishing, and polishing. By the end of the course, you will have developed the skills needed to create a silver ring and other simple pieces of jewellery. You will also gain a solid understanding of the basic processes involved in jewellery making, providing a foundation for further study and creative projects.

This course is aimed at those wishing to have a short taster of jewellery making or those wanting to practice previously learned skills. No experience necessary. This workshop runs on for 4 consecutive Tuesdays 1000-1600.
- Learn the fundamentals of silversmithing and basic workshop techniques.
- Develop piercing skills to accurately cut metal shapes and designs.
- Practice filing and finishing techniques to refine and smooth metal surfaces.
- Master silver soldering to join metal components securely.
- Explore forming, texturing, and polishing methods to create and enhance finished pieces.
Enrol on a further 15 week jewellery course for beginners or improvers.
Continuous classroom assessment.
