COURSE OVERVIEW
Learn how to wash and cut hair using barbering techniques, cut facial hair, and dry and finish men’s hair. The course includes a number of mandatory units including cutting, styling,colouring, and health and safety. In order to achieve the full qualification, there are two additional units required: perming, and creating an image based on a theme. You will also gain valuable work experience in our professional salon learning about customer service, product promotion, and practical salon skills. This course is ideal for beginners or established hairdressers looking to add barbering to their skills.

Minimum Level 1 English speaking, reading and listening required.An interview is required.You must be 19+ to study this course.
After Level 2, you could choose to develop your knowledge and skills further by completing a Level 2 or Level 3 specialist qualification, such as media hair & makeup, or part-time courses in hair extensions, creative hair design, or African Caribbean hair. Alternatively, you could undertake a barbering apprenticeship, or seek employment.

You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.

Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.
Application Review Meeting
Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.
Accept Your Place
Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.

Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
