An ideal starting point for anyone new to the automotive industry, this course introduces core maintenance tasks and workshop safe working practices. With equal theory and practical learning, you’ll gain confidence handling tools and understanding how vehicle systems operate.
Further information
Aimed at beginners or those with minimal experience wanting a structured entry into motor vehicle studies. It suits learners developing confidence before progressing to Level 2 or an automotive apprenticeship.
- Health and Safety, tools and equipment and materials knowledge
- Braking systems
- Engine lubrication and cooling
- Ignition and fuel systems
- Transmission including clutch and gearboxes and final vehicle servicing.
Progress to Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance full-time or as an apprentice, with a clear pathway toward technician-level training and employment.
Delivered through 50/50 theory and workshop sessions. Assessment includes written tasks, practical demonstrations and online exams. You’ll be supported by industry-experienced tutors throughout your development.
